The National Weather Service predicts 10 to 16 inches of snow will fall along Chicago’s north lakefront between now and Sunday morning.
The City of Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation already has activated some of its snow plow fleet so they are in position when snow starts to fall. Additional resources will be deployed as needed throughout the storm.
Please note that plows clear the arterial streets continuously during any winter storm. Only after the snowfall stops do they move onto the side streets.
You can track the snow plows as they move through the city in real time by clicking here.
As we are expecting constant snowfall throughout tonight and tomorrow, the side streets will experience considerable snow accumulation for most of Friday. Do not expect to see any snow plows on the side streets until after the snow ceases to fall and the arterial streets are clear.
I would like to thank everyone who dutifully has cleared their sidewalk this winter. It is the responsibility of every resident or business/property owner to ensure that the sidewalk adjacent to their property is clear of snow. Please report unshoveled sidewalks to my office at email@example.com or 773-338-5796.

I will keep you updated on the City’s snow removal efforts as the storm progresses.
