I am pleased to report the Chicago City Clerk’s office once again will be selling City vehicle stickers at my 49th Ward Service Office, 7356 N. Greenview (at Jarvis), Saturday, June 23rd, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There is no additional fee for this convenience.
As an added convenience, City Clerk Susana Mendoza and I have launched a new way to purchase and obtain your City vehicle sticker without waiting in line and without leaving the ward–the Aldermanic Will-Call Program.
Simply bring your renewal form, payment (check or money order made payable to “City Clerk”) and your driver’s license to my office any time during regular business hours between now and Friday, June 15th. We’ll forward your application and payment to the City Clerk’s office for processing and you can then pick up your sticker at my office at your convenience during the City vehicle sticker sale, on Saturday, June 23rd, or any business day after that date. No lines, no wait!
My office is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The new Aldermanic Will Call program is available for the following types of stickers: City stickers; City stickers with annual residential parking permits; daily residential parking permits (guest passes); and City stickers with the senior discounted price. We are not able to process motor bike emblems, antique vehicle stickers, and veteran stickers.
The prices for the City vehicle stickers are as follows:
- Small passenger vehicles (under 4,500 lbs): $85.00
- Larger passenger vehicles (4,500 lbs or more): $135.00
- Senior Citizens (for small and larger vehicles): $30.00
- Truck (16,000 lbs or less): $200.00
• Motorcycle: $45.00
A vehicle sticker in a residential permit parking zone will cost an additional $25.
The Clerk’s Office prefers payment by check or money order, but will accept cash or credit card payments. Please note that cash or credit card payments are NOT accepted if you participate in the Aldermanic Will Call Program.
If you’re a senior citizen, make sure you have an ID to receive the senior discount.
To purchase a sticker in person, you must bring your driver’s license or renewal form and know your vehicle license plate number.
Enforcement will begin on July 16th and failure to purchase and display the new vehicle city sticker by July 16th could result in a $120 ticket and a purchasing late fee.
You may also purchase your city sticker at one of seven City Clerk and City Department of Revenue locations or at more than 400 “community vendors,” including currency exchanges, Dominick’s grocery stores, and select banks. Please note that community vendors can charge up to a $5.50 convenience fee. For a list of the locations, CLICK HERE, or call 312-742-5375.
Keep in mind that even if your vehicle is registered in the suburbs or out-of-state, you may need to purchase a city vehicle sticker. By ordinance, vehicles that are “principally garaged” in the city more than 30 days must have a city vehicle sticker
The City will begin enforcing the vehicle sticker requirement on July 16th and failure to purchase and display the new vehicle city sticker by that date could result in a $200 ticket and a $60 late fee. So avoid those tickets and fees and get your sticker!
P.S. During the City Vehicle sticker sale, Midway Document Destruction’s Mobile Shredding Truck will be parked in the lot outside my office, providing free paper shredding and recycling to residents of the 49th Ward. So stop by my office on Saturday, June 23rd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and get rid of any old or unwanted papers. Because the documents are shredded, you won’t have to worry about anyone being able to read your private information.
