I invite you to attend a community meeting about a proposal to build an eight-story, 50- dwelling unit building at 1313 W. Morse (at the south east corner of Morse and Wayne).
The meeting will take place Wednesday, July 1, 7:00 p.m., at the Mayne Stage Theater, 1330 W. Morse.
The proposed development would require a zoning change from its current zoning designation of B3-3 to B3-5. The current zoning allows for a building up to 65 feet with 35 dwelling units. The developer is proposing to build an 83-foot tall building with 50 dwelling units.
A vacant strip mall, which once contained a laundromat, cell phone store and video store, currently rests on the site.
The developer proposes a parking garage on the first three stories of the building, containing 75 parking spaces. The developer plans to reserve 25 spaces for building residents and 50 spaces for patrons of the Mayne Stage. City code allows for less than a one-for-one parking- to-dwelling-unit ratio when a development is within 600 feet of a transit stop.
The top five stories would contain the apartment units, which the developer intends to rent.

Sean McGowan of Tawani Enterprise, and Tawani’s attorney, Andrew Scott, will present the proposed plans and respond to your questions and comments.
I urge you to attend the meeting. If you are unable to do so, please feel free to share your comments by replying to this email.
