My colleague, 50th Ward Alderman Debra Silverstein, and I are hosting an Information Session on the City’s Bed Bug Ordinance and the responsibilities of tenants and landlords to eliminate those pests. The session takes place TONIGHT (Thursday, May 22nd), 6:30 p.m. at Sullivan High School in the Social Room, 6631 N. Bosworth. Enter at the main door on Bosworth. Free parking is available in the parking lot at Albion and Bosworth.
The City Council passed the ordinance last summer to address the growing epidemic of bed bugs in our City. The ordinance, which went into effect in December, places responsibilities on landlords, tenants and condominium and co-operative associations in an effort to control, treat and eradicate the pests.
The Midwest Pesticide Action Center will be on hand to provide an overview of the bed bug problem and offer recommendations on treating and eradicating the problem from your home or building.

Bed bugs can afflict any household regardless of location or economic class, and they can enter your home without a moment’s notice. Even if you don’t currently have a bed bug issue in your home or building, I urge you to attend this informative meeting.
