It’s not too late to get your deeply discounted tickets for some thrilling NCAA men’s college basketball as the Loyola University Ramblers take on the Evansville University Aces at Loyola’s Gentile Arena this Saturday, January 21st, at 3:00 p.m.
Loyola University declared this Saturday to be “49th Ward Day” at the game and is graciously providing 49th Ward residents and their families a steep discount–$5 tickets–to watch the Ramblers face off against the Aces.
Loyola’s basketball team this season is looking like they could make it to the NCAA National Tournament for the first time in more than 30 years, so this is an especially good deal. And it’s a fun and affordable way to spend a winter afternoon with your entire family.
Tickets ordinarily are $20, but for 49th Ward Day, 49th Ward residents can attend for just $5.

Click here for a map of Loyola’s Lake Shore campus. The Gentile Arena is number 13 on the map. When you arrive in the arena, look for me and your neighbors in Section 208, which is the special 49th Ward section, and join us as we cheer on the Ramblers!
This promises to be an exciting game as Loyola goes up against Evansville in this Missouri Valley Conference rivalry.
Many thanks to Loyola and its Athletics and Recreation Department for making this opportunity possible for the residents of the 49th Ward.
P.S. Before or after the game, stop by Ireland‘s Pub, located on the lower level of the Damen Student Center, just west of the Gentile Arena. It is Loyola University’s first and only student-run pub.
Named after George Ireland, coach of the1963 Loyola men’s basketball team that famously won the NCAA national championship, Ireland‘s offers pub-style food, including signature hot dogs, specialty sandwiches, and nachos. The pub also features an assortment of fountain drinks, wine, and local and national beers.
Check out some of the great Loyola sports memorabilia on the walls while enjoying some delicious food and refreshing beverages.
