After last night’s snowfall, 49th Ward residents awoke this morning to an early holiday gift–a plowed alley. 49th Ward Superintendant Greg Wagner(pictured below) attached a snow plow to his heavy duty pick-up truck and last night went to work plowing all 172 alleys in the ward. He completed his task shortly after daybreak.
Thanks to his efforts, our streets and sanitation workers are now able to collect the garbage much more quickly and efficiently and 49th Ward drivers can travel the alleys without fear of getting stuck.
Greg plans to continue the alley plowing program throughout the winter. This kind of initiative is typical of Greg’s work ethic. I recommended several years ago that Greg be hired as our Ward Superintendent and it was one of the best decisions I have made as alderman.
If you run into him while you’re out and about, please thank him for all his hard work and sacrifice.
