HEAT IT UP! Glenwood Farmers' Market Chili Cook-Off This Sunday!
Dear Neighbor,
Had enough of winter? It's time to beat the chill and join me for "HEAT IT UP!," a chili cook-off and fundraising event to support the Glenwood Sunday Market. The chili cook-off takes place Sunday, February 21st, 12 Noon to 3 p.m. at The Glenwood, 6962 N. Glenwood.
HEAT IT UP! will feature both professional and amateur local cooks offering up some of the best tasting chili on Chicago's north side! Enter the contest and prepare your favorite chili recipe and compete against other 49th Ward chili chefs. The first prize winner will get to compete in the famous Retro on Roscoe Chili Cook-Off with a chance to advance to the International Chili Society Cook-Off Finals!
Celebrity chili judges include Wayne Johnson, the "Domestic Diva" on NBC 5 Chicago and our own Ruth Hoeckwater, co-owner of The Common Cup.
For contest rules and information on how to enter the HEAT IT UP! Chili Cook-Off, click here. The entry fee is $25.00
Not a cook? Come for the tasting and sample the best chili in the 49th Ward! And while you're there, enjoy a beer tasting from the Magic Hat Brewing Company, a wine tasting courtesy of E & J Gallo Winery and try your luck at the silent auction! Also, sample some delicious corn bread and satisfy your sweet tooth with an array of gelatos, ice creams and paletas.
All the proceeds from HEAT IT UP! will benefit the Glenwood Sunday Market, a farmers market that I have worked with others to establish. The market will operate every Sunday this summer on Glenwood Avenue near the Morse Red Line stop.
Joining me in support of the Glenwood Sunday Market are the Rogers Park Business Alliance, the Clark-Morse-Glenwood Special Service Area, the Glenwood Avenue Arts District, the 49th Ward Green Corps, the Rogers Park Community Council and scores of community volunteers.
Come out for a great afternoon this Sunday in the 49th Ward. Bring your friends and neighbors for a "taste of things to come" and then join us every Sunday next summer for The Glenwood Sunday Market . . . Your Green Stop on the Red Line.
Sincerely,
Joe Moore
