Mayor Daley to Cut Ribbon at New Firehouse
Dear Neighbor,
Please join Mayor Richard M. Daley and me as we cut the ribbon on the 49th Ward's NEW FIREHOUSE! The celebration will take place this Saturday, January 10th, 10:00 a.m., at Engine Company 102, 7340 N. Clark (across from Touhy Park). Refreshments will be served and tours of the new facility will be provided. Bring your kids!
This 15,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility will replace the nearly 100-year-old firehouse, located at 1723 W. Greenleaf. The new facility contains a fitness center for the firefighters and a circular drive, which will enable the emergency vehicles to exit the facility quickly and efficiently.
Future plans for the old Greenleaf firehouse have not been formalized, but I have engaged in preliminary discussions with the Rogers Park Historical Society about that organization possibly acquiring the station for a museum and offices. I will keep you posted.
I look forward to seeing you at Saturday's celebration!
Sincerely,
Joe Moore
