Community Meeting to Review Proposal for Zoning Change at 1532 W. Juneway

Dear Neighbor,

I am writing to invite you to attend a community meeting to review a proposed zoning change for 1532 W. Juneway that would enable the prospective owners of the property to build a 17' x 24' addition to the rear of an existing two-flat.  The meeting will be held on Monday, August 11th, 7:00 p.m., at my 49th Ward Service Office, 7356 N. Greenview.

Jennifer Chase and her husband, Steve Moore (no relation to the alderman), are considering the purchase of a two-flat at 1532 W. Juneway.  They intend to maintain it as a two-flat and live in one of the units.  Before they sign a contract to purchase the property, they would like to know if they would be able to build a two-story-plus-basement addition to the building in order to add a bedroom to each unit.  The construction of the addition would require a zoning change from the current RS1 classification to RS2.

Each floor of the two-flat, including the basement, is currently 1,500 square feet in size.  The proposed addtion would add 408 square-feet to each floor.

Ms. Chase, Mr. Moore and their architect will present their plans at the meeting and provide architectural drawings for your review.

If I were to support the zoning change, I would require the applicant to change the zoning back to the original RS1 classification once all the required construction permits were issued.

I urge you to attend this meeting, especially if you live on the 1400-1500 block of West Juneway.  If you are unable to attend the meeting, please feel free to share your thoughts with me by replying to this e-mail, or calling my office at 773-338-5796.

Sincerely,

Joe Moore
