New Howard El Station to Open Monday

Dear Neighbor,

I just heard some exciting news.  The new Howard El Station will open this Monday morning, June 9th!  The station will open its doors in time for the morning rush hour.

The new station, located immediately north of the CTA parking garage at Gateway Centre, features four escalators and two elevators, with a large canopy overlaying expanded platforms and four sets of newly laid tracks.  A state-of-the-art communications system extends throughout the station, and the station is fully accessible, with features to assist the hearing and visually impaired.  In an effort to encourage bicycling, a large area bike storage area is an added feature to the new station. 

The old station located on Howard Street will remain open for another six weeks, and then will close for a full-scale remodeling.  It will reopen next year as the north entrance to the new station.

Check out the new station Monday morning.  I'll be there with my "Satellite Service Office."  As you may know, my staff and I have been visiting local transit stops and other locations during the morning rush hours in June, greeting commuters with free coffee and donuts and taking service requests.  We've changed the Satellite Service Office schedule to accommodate the new station opening.

Here's the revised Satellite Service Office schedule for the remainder of the month.  Please stop by and say hello on any of the following dates from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.:

Tuesday, June 10, Metra station (Lunt Avenue entrance)
Wednesday, June 11, Metra station (Greenleaf entrance)
Monday, June 16, Dunkin' Donuts, 6970 N. Clark
Tuesday, June 17, Starbuck's, 6738 N. Sheridan
Wednesday, June 18, Shoreline Towers (Rosemont Avenue & Sheridan Road)
Wednesday, June 25, Morse el station (Lunt Avenue entrance)
Thursday, June 26, Jarvis el station
Friday, June 27, Gateway Centre Atrium (entrance to Bally's Health Club)

I will also be in front of Dominick's Finer Foods at Gateway Centre on Saturday, June 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
