A Letter from Your Alderman

Dear Neighbor,

Below please find the link to the latest edition of the 49th Ward Newsletter.  If you didn't receive it in the mail, you may download it here. It contains the latest news regarding commercial and residential developments in the ward, successful crime fighting efforts and our successful rezoning process that will help preserve the residential character of our neighborhood.

The 49th Ward continues to be a model of how an economically, racially and culturally diverse community can re-develop, grow and flourish.  I am proud of how we listen to one another and respect each other as we work together to bring about positive, thoughtful change to our community.

Together we have demonstrated that responsible development with strong community input can support exciting new businesses.  We have succeeded in increasing home ownership opportunities and preserving the residential character of our neighborhood while still providing long-term affordable and senior housing, and respecting the retail needs of all incomes and ethnic communities.

Residents of the 49th Ward are diligent about reporting city service needs and that helps us stay on top of the neighborhood infrastructure needs.  My staff fields over 500 calls and 200 emails each week from residents in need of city services, information or assistance.  Please don’t hesitate to contact my office by e-mail at ward49@cityofchicago.org or call 773-338-5796.  We will do our best to serve you.

Alderman Joe Moore
