Leone Park Lifeguard Applications Now Being Accepted

Dear Neighbors,

The Chicago Park District is now accepting Lifeguard Applications for the Leone Park lifeguard program and other lifeguard opportunities citywide. Application deadlines are March 30, April 20 and May 4. Swim tests are required as part of the application process.

The Chicago Park District assured me today that if you or your child participated in the program last year, you will receive an application in the mail, despite a published earlier application deadline. If you do not receive it, please call the Park District's Beaches and Pools Unit at 312-742-5121. New applicants may also call this number for more information.

Wear Your Swimsuit to Work as a Park District Lifeguard
Applications Available Now; Testing Begins in March

If you are physically fit, a confident swimmer, and a people person who would enjoy having the pool or lake as your office view, you might be a good candidate for a lifeguard.

The Chicago Park District is looking for 800 qualified applicants to fill summer lifeguard positions. Applications are now available online or at the Chicago Park District's Administration Office, 541 N. Fairbanks Court. Qualified applicants will be notified of the swim test.

"Residents flock to the city's beaches and pools during the summer," said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Timothy J. Mitchell. "The Chicago Park District ensures that trained lifeguards are on site to keep all aquatic facilities and programs safe."

Returning lifeguards have an earlier deadline than new lifeguards. Following are the application deadline dates and the corresponding swim test dates:

  • March 2 deadline for March 17 test (for returning lifeguards only)
  • March 30 deadline for April 14 test (all applicants)
  • April 20 deadline for May 5 test (all applicants)

•May 4 deadline for May 19 test (all applicants)

 

Successful lifeguard candidates will move on to the lifeguard training academy before being placed at one of Chicago's 32 beaches or more than 100 pools. These seasonal positions offer a competitive salary of $11.57 per hour. Applicants must be 16 years old by July 1, 2007.
