Two Upcoming Community Meetings
Dear Neighbor,
I am writing to advise you of two upcoming community meetings sponsored by the 49th Ward Zoning and Land Use Advisory Committee and my office. One involves a proposal for a lease of city-owned property and the other is an application for tax increment financing assistance.

Re: Proposal to allow for a lease of City of Chicago parkway for perpendicular parking at 1215 W. Sherwin.
Jami and Suzanna Ali, who reside at 1215 W. Sherwin, will present their proposal to lease the public way (the parkway) in front of their building to allow for the perpindicular parking of four vehicles. They recently converted the building to condominiums, but have had difficulty selling the units because the building lacks off-street parking. The 49th Ward Zoning and Land Use Advisory Committee voted to recommend that I oppose the lease application. The Committee did not believe this type of parkway cut-out has been allowed in any other residential area in the city, and was concerned about the precedent that would be set if it were allowed in this instance. The Alis have asked me for an opportunity to make their case to their neighbors and demonstrate community support for their plan.

Re: Application for Tax Increment Financing assistance to rehabilitate a building at 6610-28 N. Sheridan (southwest corner of Sheridan and North Shore)
Ayman Khalil and Kareem Musawwir of Inverbrass Funds, LLC, will present their proposal to rehabilitate a "four-plus-one" apartment building at 6610-28 N. Sheridan Rd. and preserve 116 units of rental housing. The proposal calls for approximately $2 million in assistance from the Sheridan/Devon Tax Increment Financing District. The developers propose to reduce the number of dwelling units in the building from 140 units to 116 units, and would extensively rehabilitate the building façade. Under the proposal, 70 apartment units would be affordable to individuals or families earning at least 80% of area median income, and 26 apartments would be affordable to individuals or families earning at least 60% of area median income.
I encourage you to attend both meetings and voice your opinion on the proposals.
Sincerely,
Joe Moore
