Learn How to Recycle and Compost in Your Home Right Now!

Posted: 3/6/2008

Dear Neighbor,

The City of Chicago's blue bin recycling program is coming to the 49th Ward this summer, but you don't have to wait until then to begin recycling your waste.  Learn how to recycle and compost in your home right now at the next WHY GREEN MATTER HERE workshop Monday, March 10th, 6:30 p.m. at the Loyola Park Fieldhouse, 2nd Floor, 1230 W. Greenleaf (at the lake).

Whether you live in a condominium, a single family home or a large rental apartment building you can recycle and compost your own waste.  Learn where the City of Chicago is heading with recycling and what you can do to make sure your recyclable materials don't end up in a dump!

Rae Mindock, engineer and primary consultant for the Chicago Multi-Unit Recycling Study Project, will discuss how you can bring recycling to your condominium or rental apartment building

Betsy Vandercook, my chief-of-staff and former president of the Chicago Recycling Coalition, will talk about the twenty-year battle to bring a true recycling and composting program to the City of Chicago and what we can expect from the new blue bin program.

Finally, Mike Erickson, our 49th Ward Superintendent, will be on hand to answer your questions about city garbage pick-up and the 49th Ward recycling drop-off center.

Please join us for another comprehensive and informative Green workshop!

Sincerely,

Joe Moore
