I-GO CAR SHARING ANNOUNCES NEIGHBORHOOD EXPANSION

I-GO, Chicago's neighborhood, non-profit car sharing service, today announced that it is expanding with the placement of a Honda Fit in Rogers Park.  

The car will be located at 1215 W. Albion

"We are committed to serving all of Chicago's neighborhoods," said Sharon Feigon, I-GO's chief executive officer, "and expanding our service in Rogers Park is part of that commitment.  We encourage neighborhood residents to take advantage of our easy and affordable program.  It's a great resource for the community and it helps decrease traffic congestion and air pollution."

I-GO currently has more than 4,000 members, and is growing at a rate of more than 200 new members each month. The service has over 100 cars in 32 Chicago neighborhoods, Oak Park and Evanston, and has set a goal of 200 cars by the end of the year.    The fleet is made up of environmentally-friendly, high mileage Honda Civic sedans and hybrid sedans, Honda Elements, Honda Fits, Toyota Siennas, Scion xBs and Toyota Priuses.

I-GO members use the car sharing service for a variety of activities including shopping, business, personal travel and doctor's appointments.  Most members use the cars for 2-3 hours at a time, 3-4 times a month. Cost savings can be in the thousands of dollars over the alternative of owning a car in the city.

I-GO users pay a one time membership fee and can choose from several affordable pricing packages. Members pay by the hour and by the mile and I-GO pays for gas, insurance, maintenance and reserved parking.
