  • Free Flu Shots Available This Monday, Dec. 3rd

    Dear Neighbor,

    Now that the cold weather is upon us, we need to turn our attention to protecting our health. That is why I am offering free flu and pheumonia vaccinations this Monday, December 3rd, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at my 49th Ward Service Office, 7356 N. Greenview. The vaccinations will be administered by the City of Chicago Department of Health.

  • Winter Parking Ban in Effect Saturday, Dec. 1st

    Dear Neighbor,

    Citywide winter parking restrictions will be put into effect this Saturday, December 1st (at 3 a.m.). Locally, parking on Clark Street will be prohibited from 3am to 7am, regardless of snow.

    When snow is two inches deep, parking will not be allowed any time of the day on Clark, Ridge, Howard, Sheridan, Rogers, Ashland, Western and Touhy (West of Ridge). Other streets may have additional parking restrictions so please check for signs.

  • Community to Review Proposal for Howard/Damen Development

    I am writing to invite you to attend a meeting to review a proposal for the construction of a five-story, 24-unit condominium building with three commercial storefront spaces at 2001 W. Howard (southwest corner of Howard and Damen).

  • Dominick's Completely Renovates Gateway Plaza Store

    Dear Neighbor,

    Please join me this Monday, November 19th, at 10:30 a.m., to celebrate the "Grand Re-Opening" of the Dominick's store located at Gateway Plaza (Howard and Clark).

    If you haven't visited the store recently, I urge you to stop by and give it a good look. Dominick's invested over $3 million to transform the store into one of its "Lifestyle Stores." It's the 31st such store in the Chicago area and the 1,000th store nationwide with Safeway.

  • Morse Restaurant/Theater Plan Goes Green

    Dear Neighbor,

    I was pleased to participate last week in a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Century Public House and Morse Theater at 1328 W. Morse. Our groundbreaking was purely symbolic, however, as work on the restaurant and music venue was already well underway, with many green technology features as part of the mix.

    Just one year ago, long-time Rogers Park resident Andy McGhee and his son, Devin, announced their plan to transform the old Cobbler's Mall into a 99-seat restaurant (the Century Public House) and a 299-seat music venue (the Morse Theater).
