Schools

The 49th Ward is home to many fine educational institutions. Our ward office works to support our local schools by serving as a liaison between the schools, the City of Chicago and the community at large. We encourage you to get involved in your local school, whether as a parent or as a concerned neighbor. We hope the links below will assist you in exploring your opportunities for involvement.

Join us in the late summer every year for Alderman Joe Moore's 49th Ward Back to School Family Picnic at Loyola Park at Farwell and the lake. We use this fun rally and picnic to bring families together and to encourage student attendance on the first day of school which can impact school funding. We give away hundreds of sets of free school supplies and offer health screenings to help ensure that students are prepared for the school year.
